Abstract

The article deals with violence against Labor Tax Auditors as employees who express the will of the State by monitoring faithful compliance with labor legislation. Even though statistics show a reduction in violence rates in Brazil, the numbers are alarming. It is within this context that this work presents the escalation of violence and exposes in detail the case of embarrassment that occurred at the Gastronomic Festival in the municipality of Armação de Búzios called “Degusta Búzios”. In this event, the civil servant had his tax action curtailed by municipal guards, after employers reported that there was a black inspector attacking companies. It reports the immediate action of the regional body in the face of what happened and the action/omission of the central body in the face of the case. It explains the prerogatives of the position of auditor and proves that there was an affront to several responsibilities of the position. This work takes a look at the Security Protocol as a static letter and reveals the need for dynamic decisions in combating violence. The methodology applied was a case study. It presents suggestions for protection measures within public offices. It is concluded that, if there is no policy that values the public servant with improvements in the structure and action aimed at punishing those responsible for violence, the image of the institution, life, physical integrity, and the dignity of the Labor Auditor-Inspector will always be at serious and imminent risk.
