CAMPANHA NACIONAL PELO TRABALHO DOMÉSTICO DECENTE
Abstract
Labor inspection is an indispensable public policy for the enforcement of fundamental principles and rights at work, given its constitutional status (article 21, XXIV of the Federal Constitution). However, only in 2022 – 9 (nine) years after the promulgation of Constitutional Amendment No. 72, which extended to domestic workers fundamental rights already recognized for other categories, the Labor Inspection Secretariat implemented Domestic Work inspection as a national project. This inspection took place within the framework of the National Campaign for Decent Domestic Work, following the creation of the National Coordination to Fight Against Discrimination and Promote Equal Opportunities - CONAIGUALDADE. The Campaign was an unprecedented initiative in the Brazilian Labor Inspection and was structured around 3 (three) axes: 1) social dialogue; 2) information and awareness; and 3) supervision. The first corresponds to consultation and active listening to the demands of representatives of domestic workers and employers, exchange of information and presentation of institutional initiatives; the second refers to information and clarification actions for the general public, including Labor Inspectors, and the third, to labor inspection in households. The challenges of monitoring domestic work in the context of the National Campaign and the results obtained in 2022 and 2023 will be presented in this article.
