At this juncture, the general objective is to verify the applicability of the public policies and of the legislation that fights child labor in Acre and analyze existing data over the years, to recognize what has been transformed and what persists as a potentiating factor of this social problem. To this end, it was proposed the following specific objectives: to analyze the consequences of child labor; define the factors behind the persistence of child labor in Acre; compare the forms of work carried out in urban and rural areas and how they are classified among the activities that pose the most risks to child development and analyze the frequency of cases of child labor or accidents at work among children and adolescents in urban areas and in the countryside. The problem that guides the research is how is the performance of public policies and legal documents in the geographic spaces of Acre with regard to child labor? Is this performance efficient or deficient? The method used is deductive, bibliographic and documentary in nature. The main results show that the existence of assistance policies and laws, in fact, don’t guarantee their effectiveness, making the union between the State, family and society vital to overcome the challenges that still exist in the fight against child labor.
