Abstract

In times of profusion of degrading and servile forms of work on all continents, we reflect on the challenges imposed and also on auxiliary instruments to combat the eradication of such practices. In this sense, this article aims to first present the multifaceted and global context that slavery takes on in contemporary times, consolidated by recent studies by the International Labor Organization (ILO) that show the profusion of the problem and the considerable profit generated from the exploitation of labor in the world. In a second moment, we seek to enter the national context, aiming to present recent conceptual and normative clashes regarding this crime against human rights, highlighting innovations that meet the best characterization of the crime and the effective confrontation of this persistent social dilemma, such as the improvement brought by Ordinance no. 671/MTP, 2021. To achieve this, the research follows the qualitative approach, using the deductive method, with bibliographic and documentary support.
